Moving on, with Love

After all my time here, all of my experiences, the ups and downs, and of course, the campaign for SGA President: I can unequivocally say that I truly love Auburn now more than ever.

I'll be receiving my Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering degree this August, and I'm so excited to be at the conclusion of a long and extremely difficult journey in my life.

I am especially grateful for the experience the campaign has provided me.  I had the time of my life, and I am so proud of my team and what we accomplished.  I've come to understand that sometimes the true winner isn't necessarily the candidate who is happiest on election night:

We motivated students that never care about SGA elections  -- We won.

We finished runner-up in a tough 3-way race with a small crew, an even smaller budget, and no experience -- We won.

We proved that you don't have to be Greek to make an impact at Auburn -- WE WON.

We faced a mountain of challenges, yet there is no doubt in my mind that I have the most diverse, creative, and effective team to be proud of. Given what we had, I know we accomplished the most. I know we performed the best. Though we were often tried, our resolve was never denied. I know we won.

Thank you to Auburn, our staff, and our supporters for an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life, so long as I travel upon the level of time. And the show goes on:

Let us be America again
Written by Kel Jackson

I love America, but something is happening here that I really don't like.

I turned on the news a couple of weeks ago to see what was going on in the world, and I was ashamed to see this political spectacle of Muslim Witch hunts led by NY Congressman Peter King.

His website reads the following:

As Committee Chairman I will conduct a series of hearings on the extent of radicalization in the American Muslim Community and the community’s response.

And boy did he ever. The hypocrisy displayed by this congressman is glaring.  This is the same man that supported the I.R.A., a terrorist group that has killed innocent civilians on a number of occasions.  He once told a rally that if civilians are killed, "I will not morally blame the I.R.A. for it".

What gives this man, who has supported terrorism abroad, the moral high ground to single out American Muslims as terrorists? They're Americans too.  Just because some of the people who have attacked our nation have been Muslim does not make Muslim Americans a threat.

Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, was raised as a Catholic. Does that mean we should investigate Catholics? We wouldn't dream of such a thing. Why then is this OK to do to Muslims?
